Police identify suspects in 'sophisticated break and enter' in Surrey

Surrey Police have identified the two suspects involved in a break-in at a Guildford jewelry store.

On March 31 at approximately 8 p.m., Surrey RCMP received a call regarding two suspicious individuals carrying a safe behind a business and loading it into a nearby vehicle in the 14600 block of 108 Avenue.

When police arrived, they found the store closed, but the back door was ajar. Police believe the suspects entered the store through a business located on the second floor.

“The break and enter is believed to have occurred over several hours through a series of sophisticated events using tools and other entry devices,” reads a press release from the Surrey RCMP on Friday, May 31 .

The Surrey Property Crime Team (PCTT), who led the investigation, identified two men, aged 51 and 27, as suspects. The 51-year-old was deported from Canada over an “unrelated matter” and a Canada-wide arrest warrant was issued for the 27-year-old, who does not reside in British Columbia.

“Despite the extensive planning that appears to have gone into committing this break and enter, it was the concerned citizen who reported them to the police, which the suspects may have disregarded,” said Cpl. James Mason, Surrey RCMP media relations officer, said. “We would like to thank this concerned citizen who observed the crime in progress and called the police to report it.”
