Police identify motorcyclist killed in Columbia Pike crash

Montgomery County police have identified a Beltsville man as the motorcyclist killed early Wednesday in a Calverton-area collision.

Yuan Long Yuin, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Columbia Pike near Fairland Road, police said in a news release Thursday afternoon.

Police say Montgomery County Fire and Rescue officers and crews responded shortly before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a green 2002 Honda CBR600 motorcycle.

Investigators preliminarily found that Yuin's Honda “was traveling southbound on Columbia Pike, when, for a reason unknown at that time, he lost control, causing him to strike a guardrail and crash.” ejected from the motorcycle,” the statement said.

This is the second fatal collision involving a motorcycle in less than a week. Early Saturday, another man was killed when he was thrown from the motorcycle he was riding after it struck a curb and a traffic light pole in White Oak, according to police.

Detectives said the investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone with information to call 240-773-6620.
