Police identify Meerut car fire victims, 3 women among 4 dead

Meerut: Police on Monday (June 3) said they had identified the four people, including three women, who were killed when their CNG car caught fire here a day earlier.

The four people traveling in a car from Delhi were burnt to death in the fire that broke out here in Jani police station limits around 9 pm on Sunday, Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) said Kamlesh Bahadur.

The car was equipped with a CNG kit, he had said.

Senior Superintendent of Police Rohit Singh Sajwan on Monday said those who died in the episode included Lalit (20), his mother Rajni (40), Radha (29) and Kavita (50).

The victims were traveling to Haridwar from Ghaziabad, Sajwan said.

At first glance, it appears that the car caught fire due to a CNG malfunction. A detailed investigation is underway into the matter, he added.
