Police identify man who died after Allan Gardens stabbing

Toronto police have identified a man who died in hospital after being stabbed in a downtown park early Wednesday.

Donovan Wynn, 47, of Toronto, was fatally stabbed in Allan Gardens, near Gerrard Street E. and Sherbourne Street, police said in a news release Friday.

Police say officers were called to Allan Gardens at around 12:10 a.m. to reports of a stabbing.

When emergency services arrived, they found a man suffering from a stab wound, police said. On Wednesday, police said he was found injured and unconscious.

Toronto paramedics attempted to save his life and took him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An image from the scene showed a motorized wheelchair cordoned off with police tape and investigators marking a number of personal items on the ground.

There is no word on suspects. Wynn is the city's 40th homicide victim of the year.

Police are asking witnesses and anyone in the area at the time to come forward.
