Police identify man killed in Friday night crash

DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines police have identified the 47-year-old victim of a fatal crash Friday evening.

Parrah Ngar, a Des Moines resident, is the man who police say was struck by a 52-year-old man who was also a Des Moines resident. Ngar was transported to a local hospital where he later died.


Police say Ngar was struck by the car near the 3900 block of 12th Street at 11:53 p.m. First responders responded to reports that a driver had struck a pedestrian and a house. When they arrived, they found Ngar seriously injured on the roadway. Police say after striking the pedestrian, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a house on the east side of the road.

The vehicle was a 2003 Honda Accord and the 52-year-old driver was identified as Lwin Myint, who was charged with Vehicular Homicide – OWI. Evidence observed by investigators indicated that Myint was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Myint will be booked into the Polk County Jail.

The Des Moines Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate the crash.
