Police identify driver who allegedly ran red lights at 10th Street and Thain | Idaho

LEWISTON – Red lights at the intersection of 10th Street and Thain Road in Lewiston were knocked out of service by a hit-and-run driver early Friday morning.

At 1:16 a.m. Friday, Lewiston Police were dispatched to a property damage accident in the area of ​​10th Street and Thain Road. Police said a driver left the scene after hitting and destroying the control box that houses the wiring and electronics for the intersection's lights.

The light control box at the intersection was completely buried in the roadway.

The city's traffic department was called to the scene and placed temporary stop signs at the intersection, making it a four-way stop. The traffic lights were repaired and traffic returned to normal at the intersection Friday afternoon.

Lewiston police said Friday morning they located the van involved at another location, it was unoccupied. The driver initially could not be located and the van was impounded until the driver could be identified and charged, police said. A news release from Lewiston police said they believe alcohol was a factor in the incident.

In another statement released early Saturday morning, police said they had located the driver, identified as Jeremy Hauck. He received two misdemeanor citations for hitting light fixtures and one misdemeanor citation for failing to notify police of the accident.
