Police identify CT man killed in fatal motorcycle crash

A 23-year-old Connecticut man died Friday evening when the motorcycle he was riding hit a curb and then crashed, police said.

The man, Oscar Chinchilla-Najarro of Stamford, was riding what was described as a 2001 Kawasaki dirt bike in Scalzi Park just after 11 p.m. Friday when the crash occurred, according to Stamford police.

Police said Chinchilla-Najarro apparently lost control of the motorcycle while traveling on the road outside the park, according to the initial investigation. The vehicle “climbed the sidewalk and crashed along the guardrail on the east side of the park,” police Sgt. Jeffrey Booth said.

The park is located at 100 Bridge St. Police described the vehicle as a motorcycle.

“Mr. Chinchilla-Najarro was fatally injured in the accident and was pronounced dead on
scene,” Booth said in an email Saturday. “The initial investigation revealed that the speed of the motorcycle may have been a factor in this accident.”

Booth said the Stamford Police Department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team is
investigating the accident. He said the investigation remains open and anyone who may have further information is asked to contact the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team at (203) 977-4712.

This accident is being investigated by Booth and Officer Cory Fisher.
