Police identify 19-year-old man who may have died after being struck by lightning at Davie Park – NBC 6 South Florida

Police have identified the man who was killed at Vista View Park in Davie Sunday after he was likely struck by lightning.

According to Davie police, officers went to Vista View Park after receiving a 911 call that a person had fallen and possibly been struck by lightning. When police arrived, they found a man dead.

Police identified the man as Ethan Lawrence, 19, of Broward County.

In a Facebook post, someone who knew Lawrence described him as a “handsome, intelligent, athletic, wonderful young man.”

“I am blessed and honored to have had the opportunity to meet Ethan during the first 5k event I participated in for Aden,” Sarah Ramsay Perry wrote. ” He won. »

The Broward County Medical Examiner's Office is assisting with the investigation. The DPD investigation remains active.

According to the police, their investigation has not revealed any suspicious circumstances that would make this case criminal.

The park was closed due to weather-related safety concerns, police said.
