Police found blood outside missing Arizona woman's home. Her husband was arrested

An Arizona man has been arrested after his wife, who police suspect was murdered, went missing last week.

Daniel Paduchowski, 58, was taken into custody Monday after telling authorities that his wife, Kelly Paduchowski, 45, was missing.

Court documents obtained by Arizona's Family Television show that neighbors told investigators they heard a woman screaming around 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

A neighbor said she saw the woman lying on her stomach in her Flagstaff yard. She was motionless, the person told authorities. Police said the man was on top of his wife, his hands on her shoulders.

Five minutes later, the neighbor's husband reportedly saw the woman lying on her side, but the man had disappeared. Then, the woman also disappeared from the backyard. The neighbor claimed to have later seen the husband spraying the spot in the backyard where his wife was.

Police say Daniel Paduchowski said he last saw his wife running around 1:30 p.m., adding that she was heading to Lake Mary to swim. The couple had been biking together on the Schultz Creek Trail earlier in the day. He reported his wife missing around 7:30 p.m.

Authorities eventually located the woman's car at Campbell Mesa Trailhead, where her husband was located.

While questioning Daniel, police said they spotted fresh blood outside the garage door of the couple's home, according to court documents. Authorities also found blood on the patio, as well as a bloody footprint, the outlet reported.

Among the evidence collected from the residence were a gray shirt, pants and a hat that appeared to belong to the man's wife. The items were located in a trash can.

At one point, authorities confronted Daniel about his wife's disappearance and told him the situation seemed suspicious, as if he had lied to police. The man then asked for a lawyer and neither confirmed nor denied the allegations.

Additionally, the man appeared to have injuries to his hands and knees and described his wife in the past tense as “a beautiful woman.” The husband was arrested and booked on charges of aggravated assault and possession of dangerous drugs. His bail was set at $500,000.
