Police arrest suspected traffickers, rescue 2 Benue teenagers in Lagos

Operatives of the Lagos State Command have arrested two men, Tewase Peter, 25, and Ternugwa Paul, 26, for allegedly kidnapping two teenagers from Benue State.

The victims, Precious, a 16-year-old girl, and Agera, a 15-year-old boy, were rescued from their captors at Itaoluwa area of ​​Ikorodu, Lagos State.

State police spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin revealed this in a post on his verified X ID.

He said: “Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims were abducted from their home in Benue State while their mother was at the market.

“After the mother's numerous attempts to contact the older victim via her cell phone, a good Samaritan answered the phone while the suspects were not home with the victims and informed the mother that one of the suspects, Peter, accompanied by his friend, a certain Paul, had taken his daughters to Lagos with the intention of transporting them to Ghana to subject them to forced labor.

Hundeyin further said: “After receiving the information at the Lagos State Police Command, detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department raided Peter’s house at Itaoluwo, Ikorodu, and rescued victims successfully. »

He added that an investigation was underway to apprehend all others involved in the crime while the suspects would be charged to court after the investigation.
