Police arrest suspect in tragic shooting of Baltimore teen

BALTIMORE, MD — An important development has occurred in the investigation into a recent homicide in the Western District. Authorities arrested Korey Hopson, 22, of Baltimore on Thursday in connection with the violent incident last Thursday. Hopson is accused of fatally shooting 17-year-old Denzel Johnson and injuring a 15-year-old boy on North Dukeland Street.

Last Thursday, the incident first came to light through a ShotSpotter alert around 3:42 p.m. Responding officers found Johnson deceased from gunshot wounds and another teen seriously injured. Both victims were quickly transported to a local hospital, where Johnson was pronounced dead.

After fleeing the scene, Hopson was apprehended by police in a wooded area on Stokes Road.

Hopson now faces charges of first- and second-degree murder and conspiracy, attempted murder and assault. After his arrest, Hopson was taken to the Central Booking Center.
