Police are investigating an afternoon shooting in the city's northeast, seeking information

On Sunday, June 23, 2024, at 2:46 p.m., Naperville Police officers were dispatched to the area of ​​Iroquois Avenue and Kennebec Lane for a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers arrived on scene and found a gunshot victim outside of a home located in the 1000 block of Iroquois Avenue.

The Naperville Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.

The initial investigation revealed that the attacker fled on foot. Officers established a perimeter and deployed a K9 unit and a drone to attempt to locate the offender. A Naper Notify alert was sent to nearby residents asking them to shelter in place.

As more information became available, it was learned that the attacker fled the scene in a vehicle.

Based on the preliminary investigation, it does not appear to be a random act of violence.
