NAPPANEE — A Plymouth man has been identified as the driver who died in a single-vehicle crash Friday afternoon near Nappanee.

According to the Elkhart County Coroner, the driver was identified as Jeffery Kendall, 50, of Plymouth. Kendall's cause of death was thermal injuries and the manner of death was ruled accidental.

At approximately 12:55 p.m. on Friday, May 24, officers from the Nappanee Police Department and an Indiana State Police trooper responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash on Tomahawk Trail near ATC Trailers.

Preliminary investigation indicates a right-handed tanker truck was heading south on Tomahawk Trail when it is believed the truck left the roadway to the right and lost control. When the truck returned to the road, it rolled onto its right side and continued southbound. As the truck slid, it caught fire and flipped, coming to rest facing north in the northbound lane.
