Pleasant Hill man charged in June 8 Garysburg shooting

A Pleasant Hill man was arrested and charged today in a shooting that occurred at a convenience store outside Garysburg on the evening of June 8.

Captain Patrick Jacobs of the Northampton County Sheriff's Office said Montrell Johnson, 25, faces felony charges of carrying a firearm into an occupied dwelling, two misdemeanor counts of injuring persons real property and one count of injury to personal property.

Major J. Barmer, Sergeants A. Trenz and W. Killian, and Deputy L. Batchelor located Johnson.

A vehicle and residence were struck by bullets during the shooting and during the investigation, Johnson was identified as the shooter, Jacobs said.

He also had an outstanding Halifax County arrest warrant for misdemeanor theft and was charged with carrying a concealed handgun believed to be the same one used in the shooting on 8 June.

He was given a $26,500 secured bond and a court date of June 26.
