Pittsburgh police, community search for missing 24-year-old man – WPXI

PITTSBURGH — It's been five days since Mohammed El-Hadi Mohammed, 24, disappeared. His sister and close friend said they were very worried and were asking for help from the community to find him.

“We are so worried about him and his safety. We need him back,” said Rania Maoun, his close friend.

Mohammed's family, friends and colleagues are worried because he is still missing.

His sister, Hiba, said the last time she saw and spoke with her brother was on the night of May 22.

“It’s terrible for me and my family. They are all worried about him,” Hiba said.

Mohammed works at 40North on Pittsburgh's North Side. The restaurant posted missing person signs outside its door and shared an online post asking for the public's help in finding him safe.

“We thank the Pittsburgh community for their help … in finding him,” Maoun said.

His boss said Mohammed called in to leave work last Wednesday, which was unusual for him. Then he texted her saying, “Don't worry, I'll be there tomorrow,” but he never showed up for work the next day. She said they were really worried about him.

“His family is devastated. They call all the time and his sister needs him,” Maoun said.

His sister said Mohammed was born in New York and moved to Sudan with his family when he was five. He was studying medicine but had to be evacuated by the American embassy because of the war. Last year he moved to Pittsburgh. Those close to him say he is intelligent, kind and helpful and hope to find him soon.

“I appreciate everyone helping us try to find him, so I hope in the end we find him and he's safe,” Hiba said.

Pittsburgh police said detectives with the Special Victims Unit were looking for him. Anyone who has seen or heard from him should report this information to Pittsburgh Police.
