Piscataway man arrested for unprovoked stabbing near CNBC News headquarters in Englewood Cliffs

Bergen County officials reported the arrest of Mr. Harshkumar H. Patel, a 29-year-old Piscataway resident, on charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault.

According to a statement released by Prosecutor Mark Musella, the incident occurred on Friday, June 14, 2024, when the Englewood Cliffs Police Department responded to a stabbing on Sylvan Avenue around 5:34 p.m.

Officers found a 30-year-old victim who was then transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment and later released.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit and the Englewood Cliffs Police Department determined that the suspect approached the victim while she was in a vehicle exiting a parking lot.

Prosecutor Musella said the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times through the open window before fleeing.

The attack was deemed unprovoked as the suspect was a stranger to the victim.

On Saturday, June 15, 2024, Harshkumar H. Patel was identified as the attacker and was arrested outside his residence in Piscataway by detectives, with the assistance of the New State Police Fugitive Task Force. Jersey and the Piscataway Police Department.

Patel faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and possession of a firearm.
