Philadelphia Woman Sentenced for Kidnapping, Bounding, Assaulting, Robbing and Holding Ambler Woman for Ransom

Baheejah H. Alwan, 43, of Philadelphia, who allegedly masterminded a plot to rob, kidnap, bind, assault and hold an Ambler woman against her will for ransom, was sentenced to 13 to 45 years in prison, the court said. Pottstown Mercury reported today.

Alwan was charged with kidnapping, burglary, grand larceny and conspiracy to commit burglary in connection with the Feb. 19, 2023, incident, which took place at the victim's Ambler apartment in the complex Crossings at Ambler Station.

According to reports, Alwan took the victim to his Philadelphia residence where she was held for ransom by Alwan and two men for 24 hours. She was arrested in March 2023.

A judge ordered Alwan to pay $20,000 in restitution to the victim, Mercury said.

Alwan had previously delivered drugs to the victim and knew she came from a wealthy family, Mercury said.

She and two men allegedly entered the woman's apartment. One of the men pointed a gun at the victim's head before the group ransacked the victim's apartment for about 45 minutes. Alwan then used duct tape to cover the victim's mouth and bound her feet and hands while the men robbed her of about $20,000 worth of her belongings.
