Philadelphia Phillies superstar likely missing from London series

The Philadelphia Phillies seemingly got things back on track after avoiding a sweep of the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday and winning Game 1 of the series against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday.

Based on this team's performance so far this season, these are games they should definitely win.

But there was some concern that the Phillies had experienced some regression after losing two consecutive series against the Rockies and the Colorado Giants.

It's funny to think that this is concerning in a long year, especially since they became the first MLB team to reach another milestone this season.

Yet it’s easy to get caught up in what’s happening on a daily basis.

Considering Philadelphia has continued to win at a rapid pace despite the absence of its superstar Trea Turner since he hit the injured list with a left hamstring strain on May 4, what they've done is still more impressive.

As they await the return of the elite shortstop, their London series against the New York Mets starting June 8 was considered a possible date for him to rejoin the team.

Rob Thomson hoped this would be the case, and positive news a few days ago suggested it could become a reality.

Unfortunately, it now appears that the Phillies will be without Turner on the field in London.

“Turner still needs to intensify his running program and complete baserunning and sliding exercises before embarking on a rehabilitation mission, meaning he is unlikely to return before the London Series,” it said. he says on their team's injury page.

This is unfortunate for both parties.

Not only is the 30-year-old expected to miss even more time, but it also appears he won't be able to participate in the spectacle that an international series provides.
