Philadelphia Fire Department Selects 3AM Innovations for PAS

Buffalo, New York, May 2024 – The Philadelphia Fire Department (PFD) has selected Buffalo-based technology company 3AM Innovations to improve its incident management and personnel accountability. Under the terms of the five-year agreement, PFD will integrate 3AM's decision support software platform, FLORIAN®, into its operations.

Philadelphia will become the first major U.S. city to fully deploy smartphone technology alongside portable radios to support its firefighters during all phases and hazards. Through this collaboration, each PFD operator will be equipped with a connected phone sending location information to their commander during incidents. This real-time location capability, combined with geofencing, route mapping and automated alerts, can significantly reduce response time in life-saving scenarios.

FLORIAN provides automated personnel location (including height), automated vehicle location, structure information and advanced 3D mapping. All accessible on a single customizable screen. Additionally, FLORIAN allows incident commanders to monitor emergency vehicles, assign them specific coordinates, and check the status of fire hydrants before they arrive. Once deployed, incident commanders can view multiple streams of information on a single screen, facilitating data-informed decision-making and coordination. Specially designed for the public safety sector, FLORIAN will help improve response efficiency, streamline incident management and strengthen on-site PFD security.

Philadelphia firefighters have already put FLORIAN's capabilities to use during planned events, including the annual Broad Street Run. Equipped with tracking devices, PFD adapted its responses to medical incidents and hazards, demonstrating FLORIAN's versatility and effectiveness in fast-paced operational environments.
