One person was injured in a fire at an encampment in Winooski Monday morning, officials say. The Burlington Fire Department said one of its crews was heading to a training exercise just before 9 a.m. when they saw a large column of smoke coming from the Winooski River rail bridge area. firefighters arrived on site, they located a camp on fire under the blue bridge on the Winooski side. A man had burns to his legs and was taken by ambulance for treatment. The Winooski Fire Department was able to extinguish the flames. The Burlington Fire Department said one of its crews was heading to a training exercise just before 9 a.m. when they saw a large column of smoke coming from the Winooski River rail bridge area .

When firefighters arrived on scene, they located a camp on fire under the Blue Bridge on the Winooski side.

A man suffered burns to his legs and was taken by ambulance for treatment.

The Burlington and Winooski fire departments were able to extinguish the flames.

The Winooski Fire and Police Departments are investigating the cause of the fire.
