Person hospitalized in BG apartment fire, 18 units affected

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (WTVG) – Crews from multiple agencies battled a fire at a large apartment in Bowling Green Wednesday evening and one person was transported to the hospital.

At least three fire departments were working the fire that broke out Wednesday evening at the HUD-owned apartments in the 300 block of Parkview Drive. Police called it a “large” fire and asked the public to avoid the area near N. Main Street.

Authorities confirmed one person was transported to an area hospital for treatment, but the extent of their injuries is unknown, although it appears they were not seriously injured. Officials on scene told 13 Action News 18 units were affected. Displaced residents will be accommodated in hotels in the area.

The Wood County Alcohol, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Board said the building is a semi-independent harbor shelter. In a statement, he said the board “is fully dedicated to ensuring the mental and physical safety and well-being of everyone affected by this event, including Harbor residents and staff.” He added that he would work with local and state entities to ensure that no resident is left without housing or necessary services.

13 Action News has crews on scene. Check back for new details as we learn more.
