Person arrested for vehicular homicide after fatal crash south of Seattle

Seattle Police officers responded to a 911 call about a single-vehicle crash in the 9200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South around 10:30 a.m.

SEATTLE — One person has been arrested for vehicular homicide after a fatal crash that claimed the life of a 78-year-old woman in South Seattle on the morning of Wednesday, May 29.

Seattle Police officers responded to a 911 call about a single-vehicle crash in the 9200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South around 10:30 a.m.

When Seattle Fire crews arrived, they removed the three passengers from the vehicle: the 32-year-old driver and passengers aged 47 and 78.

The 78-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 47-year-old man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.

The driver was taken to Harborview in stable condition. He was evaluated by a drug recognition expert and arrested.

Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives determined the driver lost control, drove onto a curb and struck a tree.

The investigation remains open. Anyone with information is asked to contact the investigative squad at 206-684-8923.
