Person arrested after shooting in Des Moines

Des Moines police arrested and charged Andrew Woock-Shelton, 25, after an overnight shooting in downtown Des Moines. Woock-Shelton was charged with interference with official acts with a dangerous weapon, possession of a controlled substance and ineligible person to carry a dangerous weapon. It happened on Court Avenue near Second Avenue just after 2 a.m. Sunday. The Avenue Entertainment District spotted the shooting and responded. They say a suspect tried to run from police but fell and broke a bone. He was taken to hospital and firearm-related charges are pending. Two firearms were also found at the scene. Police say no one was injured in the shooting.

Officers on foot patrol in the Court Avenue entertainment district spotted the shooting and responded. They say a suspect tried to run from police but fell and broke a bone. He was transported to hospital and firearm-related charges are pending.

Two firearms were also found at the scene.

Police say no one was injured in the shooting.
