Person arrested after shooting in Des Moines

Des Moines police arrested and charged Andrew Woock-Shelton, 25, after an overnight shooting in downtown Des Moines. Woock-Shelton was charged with interference with official acts with a dangerous weapon, possession of a controlled substance and ineligible person to carry a dangerous weapon. It happened on Court Avenue near Second Avenue just after 2 a.m. Sunday. The Avenue Entertainment District spotted the shooting and responded. They say a suspect tried to run from police but fell and broke a bone. He was taken to hospital and firearm-related charges are pending. Two firearms were also found at the scene. Police say no one was injured in the shooting.

Des Moines police arrested and charged Andrew Woock-Shelton, 25, after an overnight shooting in downtown Des Moines.

Woock-Shelton was charged with interference with official acts with a dangerous weapon, possession of a controlled substance and ineligible person to carry a dangerous weapon.

It happened on Court Avenue near Second Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday.

Officers on foot patrol in the Court Avenue entertainment district spotted the shooting and responded. They say a suspect tried to run from police but fell and broke a bone. He was transported to hospital and firearm-related charges are pending.

Two firearms were also found at the scene.

Police say no one was injured in the shooting.
