Peoria man sentenced to 10 years in prison for reckless homicide

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) – A Peoria man was sentenced to 10 years in prison – the maximum allowed – for a November 2020 car crash that killed one woman and seriously injured another.

Adrian Isom Gregory, 33, was booked on charges of reckless homicide and aggravated reckless driving in connection with the Nov. 20, 2020, crash near the intersection of Reservoir Boulevard and Rochelle Lane.


Gregory was driving more than 90 mph on Reservoir when he crashed into another car, killing his passenger, Aries Terrell, 34, and seriously injuring the driver of the other vehicle, according to testimony at his trial in March.

Peoria County Circuit Judge John Vespa imposed the maximum sentence on both counts and also made the sentence consecutive or to be served after another 10-year prison term. Gregory is serving for aggravated battery in connection with a March 2019 shooting.

During Thursday's hearing, Terrell's family spoke tearfully about the wonderful mother she was to her four children, who at the time of her death ranged in age from six to 16. The driver of the other car recounted his long journey. to recovery and the 18 months spent healing from the numerous injuries she suffered in the accident.
