Pedestrian fatally struck on Highway 60 identified

A pedestrian struck and killed on Moreno Valley (60) Freeway was identified Wednesday as a 43-year-old Moreno Valley man.

Enrique Ruiz was fatally shot shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday on westbound Route 60 near Frederick Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The agency said Ruiz entered the No. 1 lane, where he was struck by a truck. It's unclear if the victim was trying to cross the highway or why he was there.
