Pawtucket man charged with fatal stabbing charges in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — A man has been charged in connection with a fatal stabbing in Cumberland.

Attorney General Peter Neronha reported Tuesday that Robert Perry, 34, was charged Friday after a stabbing that killed Otis Diggs, 38, on September 23, 2023.

Police said Perry stabbed Diggs after an altercation broke out between them, and first responders found Diggs suffering from stab wounds when they arrived.

Diggs later died at Rhode Island Hospital from his injuries.

Perry was charged with one count of murder and one count of possessing a knife longer than three inches while committing a crime of violence.
