News

The remains were found in the water of the reservoir. It is unclear how long the remains were there before they were found.

The Mercer County Coroner's Office is investigating after partial human remains were found in a wildlife area on the Shenango River Reservoir.

Hermitage police called the Clark Volunteer Fire Department to block the entrance to the Golden Run Wildlife Area along Lake Road near Neshannock Road on Tuesday at 10 p.m.

By sunrise, the firefighters had left, but the entrance to the wildlife area was still barricaded with signs saying “emergency ahead.” Since then, another fire truck has arrived.

According to a press release, the remains were found in the water of the reservoir. It is unclear how long the remains were there before being found. This information will be determined through forensic resources and additional testing.

Due to the condition of the remains, the cause and manner of death, as well as the identity of the deceased, are unknown at this time.

Golden Run Wildlife Area is along the south shore of the lake and offers a public boat launch, hiking trail, and parking.
