Parents wake up to son stabbing them in Mount Pleasant home, police say

ISABELLA COUNTY, MI — A man is in custody after allegedly stabbing his parents in their home near Mount Pleasant early on the morning of Saturday, May 25.

Isabella County sheriff's officers responded around 4 a.m. to a home in the 1000 block of South Winn Road where a 24-year-old man had attempted to stab his parents, ages 42 and 43. years old, while they sleep.

The couple woke up and were able to defend themselves while the suspect continued to attack them, according to a news release. Police could not be reached to provide further information on the parents' condition at this time.

There were two minor children in the residence who were unharmed, police said.

The suspect fled the scene in a car before police arrived. Clinton County deputies were able to stop the man heading south on U.S. 127 within an hour, police said. He was taken into custody without incident, returned to Isabella County and booked into custody.
