Pangolin trafficking: 2 people arrested for pangolin trafficking in Odisha | Raipur News

Raipur: In a collaborative effort, the anti-poaching team of Udanti-Sitanadi Tiger Reserve, Directorate of Financial Intelligence and Kalahandi Forest Division apprehended two individuals involved in pangolin trafficking in Odisha. The suspects were found with 160 pieces of pangolin scales, a motorcycle and two mobile phones near the Navrangpur-Kalahandi border. The joint operation included members of various forestry divisions and DRI units. The joint operation took place on June 9, 2024 and included personnel from the DRI (Chhattisgarh) and North and South Kalahandi Forest Divisions. Acting on specific intelligence, the team arrested Bhaskar Majhi, 22 from Mahulpatna village, and Laxman Majhi, 35 from Tentulikhunti village. “A case has been registered in Jayapatna forest range in Kalahandi, and further legal proceedings are underway,” forest officials said.
