Palestinian officials in Rome for training on combating drug trafficking

THEDoganes and Monopoli Agency (Adm), accepting the request of Eubam-Rafah, the EU border assistance mission at the Rafah crossing point, organized a study visit on illicit drug trafficking for the Palestinian National Authority and hosted a delegation of officials from the General Administration of Borders and Customs checkpoints, arrived in Rome for 4 days of intensive training. This was reported in a press release from Adm. This project is part of a broader commitment of our country to support Palestine and the population exhausted by the war, as also demonstrated by the “Food For Gaza” initiative, in which Adm participates to encourage the entry of aid humanitarian in conflict territories.

The study visit also took place, in part, at Rome-Ciampino Airport, where Palestinian officials learned Italian experiences and good practices to prepare to manage, where possible, the Rafah terminal and other access routes to the Gaza Strip according to international standards. Additionally, during the visit, delegates will participate in training modules created by Adm in collaboration with the Carabinieri, the Guardia di Finanza, the Italian Medicines Agency and the Ministry of Health, which will include practical activities on operations to control and combat illicit drug trafficking. “Adm is proud to contribute in a concrete way to improving border management in the Region. Among the merits of this mission, there is certainly that of looking beyond the conflict, of imagining a future of peace and normality, to ensure that the Palestinian Authority has orderly and effective control of the borders,” declared the Director of the Agency, Roberto Alesse, greeting the Palestinian delegation in Mastai Square “My most sincere hope is that we reach, as soon as possible, a diplomatic solution agreed and accepted by both parties, to alleviate. the suffering of those who have already paid too high a price,” concluded Alesse The Customs and Monopolies Agency is currently also engaged in other cooperation and capacity building activities in Serbia, Bosnia, Albania, in Moldova, Tunisia and Libya.
