VENTURA, Calif. – Jacob Anthony Caliboso was sentenced Tuesday to 30 years to life in prison for the 2020 murders of Elva Andrade and Nevaeh Gomez, according to the Ventura County Prosecutor's Office (VCDAO).

A jury previously convicted the 25-year-old Oxnard man on April 30 of two counts of second-degree murder after he was under the influence of drugs while driving and crashed into a motorcycle with the two victims, explained the VCDAO.

Caliboso never slowed his car to a speed of 55 miles per hour according to CHP officers and never used his brakes as investigators found social media posts and videos of him driving while drinking. drugs in the weeks preceding the accident, detailed the VCDAO.

The jury was presented with a collection of more than 1,000 social media posts in which the 25-year-old refused to consider the potential consequences of the incident, according to the VCDAO.

A restitution hearing is scheduled for July 9 and judges handed down the maximum sentence for Caliboso after killing the 52-year-old man and the 7-year-old child, the VCDAO said.
