Overdose investigations lead to 3 arrests; seizure of Fentanyl, other drugs

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – More than 300 lethal doses of powder and pressed fentanyl have reportedly been taken off the streets, along with a variety of other drugs, after recent drug busts in East Baton Rouge Parish.

According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, deputies executed six search warrants on Lorraine Street and Gwendale Avenue in Baton Rouge and Brandy Avenue in Zachary as part of three separate investigations on June 26 and 27.

Authorities said three people were arrested and a variety of drugs including powder and pressure Fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, powder and crack cocaine, oxycodone, marijuana and synthetic THC, had been seized. Thirteen weapons were also reportedly seized, four of which were stolen.

According to the sheriff's office, the Gang Intelligence and Enforcement Unit began investigating the many drug distributors on the street in June, following overdose investigations.

Arrests

  • Cora Gray, 39, was arrested on multiple charges related to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl powder, crystal methamphetamine and marijuana, as well as possession of a stolen firearm, two counts of firearm with CDS, operating a clandestine laboratory and drug paraphernalia.
  • Larry Taylor, 53, was arrested for possession of fentanyl powder with intent to distribute.
  • Ronald Wyble, 34, was arrested on multiple charges related to possession with intent to distribute powder fentanyl, methamphetamine, pressed fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, marijuana and suboxone, as well as two counts of firearm with CDS, two counts of felon in possession of a firearm and drug paraphernalia.
