Otisville man sentenced for home invasion and three misdemeanors

After pleading no contest to the crime of home invasion in connection with the break-in at his ex-girlfriend's home, an Otisville man was sentenced Thursday to eight months in prison.

Phillip Meyer, 36, pleaded no contest May 2 to four felonies stemming from a 911 call Oct. 26, 2023, regarding a 34-year-old Midland woman waking up to find her ex-boyfriend standing in her bedroom .

Meyer pleaded no contest to felony third-degree home invasion and misdemeanor counts of malicious destruction of property, domestic violence and reckless driving.

Midland County Circuit Court Judge Michael Beale sentenced Meyer to the maximum eight months for trespassing and MDOP, with 199 days credit for time served. Meyer was sentenced to the maximum 93 days for domestic violence and reckless driving, again with credit for 199 days.

Until his no-contest plea, Meyer had been incarcerated in the Midland County Jail on $250,000 cash bail since Nov. 15, when he turned himself in to Midland police.

A 34-year-old Midland woman told Midland police that at 1:23 a.m. Oct. 26, she woke up startled to find Meyer in her bedroom at a home on Jefferson Avenue, Brennon Warren said , public relations officer for the Midland Police Department. The woman said she did not invite Meyer to her home.

After she and her family members took Meyer out of the house, someone called 911. Later, while fleeing in his vehicle, Meyer allegedly struck the victim's elderly brother. 40 years old, with his car. Additionally, the woman said all four of her tires were slashed at the time of the incident.
