Orem Rec. Sexual assault suspect in center identified and detained by police

OREM, Utah (KUTV) — Police have identified the man accused of sexually assaulting someone in a locker room at the Orem Family Fitness Center.

On Friday, June 21, officers with the Orem City Police Department said the man was identified through a tip on social media and was questioned.

This investigation began Wednesday evening around 6:45 p.m. when police were dispatched to the Orem Rec-Center at 575 West Center Street.

A caller reported that a sexual assault had taken place in one of the locker rooms and that the adult victim had managed to escape.

Security footage was provided by staff members. Police shared photos of the man's face and one of his tattoos via Facebook on Thursday.

By Friday, the man was located and taken into custody thanks to the hard work of police officers and community members.
