A plane crashed in a field near Marcum Street and Clark Avenue in Orcutt, California. Videos show smoke billowing from the site. According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the pilot was able to exit the plane without assistance, KEYT-TV reported. However, the accident sparked vegetation fires in the area and firefighters were on scene. It's unclear if anyone else was injured in the crash.

According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the pilot was able to exit the plane without assistance, KEYT-TV reported. However, the accident sparked vegetation fires in the area and firefighters were on scene. It's unclear if anyone else was injured in the crash.

Despite the grass fires which broke out as soon as emergency services arrived on the scene around 5:21 p.m., the pilot of the plane managed to escape the vehicle alone.

The SBCFD reports that two separate fires that broke out on approximately half an acre each are not yet threatening any residences.

Another accident was observed in Orcutt in February 2024. After the helicopter crashed on a Friday morning in a field in Orcutt, the pilot of the plane emerged unscathed from the debris. The plane experienced mechanical problems just before 8 a.m. while the pilot was spraying organic pesticides on a field near Orcutt-Garey and Foxen Canyon roads. The plane then attempted to land, but crashed onto its side. Its pesticide tanks were empty when it crashed.

Recently, the Boeing 777-300ER of Singapore Airlines Flight 321 from London-Heathrow to Singapore, carrying 229 passengers, experienced extreme turbulence, which cost the life of one passenger and injured thirty others. In Bangkok, the plane made an emergency landing.

A Boeing 787-9 operated by LATAM Airlines, Flight 800 from Sydney to Auckland, experienced an in-flight malfunction in March that left 50 people injured. The plane landed safely at Auckland Airport despite the incident.

A Safe Air Company Boeing 727-200 on board a cargo plane arriving from Juba Airport hit the runway and crashed with an MD-82 during the collision at Malakal Airport in March 2024 while attempting to land at Malakal Airport, South Sudan. One of the seven crew members on board was injured, while the others all survived.
