Orange County drug bust: 30 arrested after cocaine, guns seized from Newburgh food truck after 6 months of investigation

GOSHEN, Orange County (WABC) — Thirty people were arrested in a drug and gun bust in Orange County that could be one of the largest in the county's history.

Numerous guns and drugs were being sold at the Real Spice food truck in downtown Newburgh, authorities said Wednesday.

Dozens of weapons and kilos of cocaine and fentanyl were seized on May 21 after a six-month investigation.

The food truck was also seized as part of the investigation.

“The food truck was driving right by the city courthouse, less than 150 feet from the city courthouse, selling food, guns and cocaine,” the county attorney said of Orange, David Hoovler.

Kirkland Salmon, 42, is the owner and operator of the food truck. He is one of 30 people facing a series of charges that carry a sentence of 25 years in prison.

Police say the drug and weapons trafficking ring had a sophisticated four-tier structure and that the weapons came from North Carolina and the drugs, primarily cocaine, came from Florida.

It is estimated that the company made more than $3 million a year.

Nearly 40 different law enforcement agencies joined in the investigation.
