“Yesterday she said, 'I'm going to get it together, I'm going to get it together.' She had some kind of stomach problem where…a stomach flu where stuff was coming out both sides, I'm not going to be too explicit,” King told his television audience.

“But needless to say, she ended up in the hospital. Dehydrated, she had an IV, so it was a very serious thing,” King said. “She'll be fine. She'll be fine. I hope she's not mad at me for sharing that detail, but I wanted to be clear that it mattered to her and that it bothered her that she couldn't be there for you today.”

Winfrey then took to social media to announce her latest favorite book.

She did not discuss her recent health problems.

“Summer is here and I love curling up with a big book that guides me through the season,” Winfrey wrote on Instagram.

“Many of you may recognize the author's name because he wrote my 2008 book club selection, The story of Edgar Sawtelle. Now, David has written a sequel to this epic novel with the story of the origin of the Sawtelle family and the legendary dogs for which they became famous,” added Winfrey.

“This captivating family saga takes us on an extraordinary journey that brilliantly interweaves history, philosophy, adventure and mysticism to explore the meaning of love, friendship and living one's true life purpose. You don't need to read David's first book before starting this book one, but I'm sure you'll pick it up after you finish.
