Open spots available for Teen Building for Tomorrow camp

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Looking for something for your kids to do during summer break? There are several spots open at the Garcias Art and Education Center for the Teens Building for Tomorrow camp, summer 2024: leadership, arts, citizenship and entrepreneurship.

In this camp, students in grades 6-12 will learn skills, empowerment and citizenship through activities such as STEM exercises, yoga, art classes in various media, volunteering and school trips throughout the community.

The camp is led by local artists Mayra Zamora and Monica Marie Garcia.

“Community partners provide presentations and opportunities to learn about careers, continuing/higher education pathways and life interests,” organizers said.

Details

  • The camp takes place Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.* at the Garcia Center, 2021, rue Agnes (*The schedule may occasionally change due to a school trip.)
  • Students must bring a bagged lunch unless otherwise noted.
  • The camp costs $375 for 6 weeks. Individual weekly registrations are available for $125 per child (or $62.50 per week with a scholarship).
  • A limited number of scholarships are available to students in need. Contact us at 361-825-3600.
  • Artwork created at camp will be installed for display with a closing reception, as well as a wall dedication.

  • Session 4: June 24-28

  • Session 6: July 8-12
