One person shot and stabbed at Lake Murray Park

NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities say a person is hospitalized after being shot and stabbed at a popular park along Lake Murray in Newberry County.

The Newberry County Sheriff's Office said deputies, Lake Murray rescue crews and emergency medical services were called to the Sunset Park area of ​​Newberry County off Hollands Landing on Saturday Drive, regarding an incident.

The sheriff's office said the investigation was still preliminary but revealed an argument between several people that turned into a fight. The sheriff's office said one person was stabbed and shot at the scene. This person was taken away by helicopter. A deputy also requested backup due to the crowd reaction at the scene.

Officials said investigators were now interviewing people at the scene and had the scene under control.
