One person injured after barbecue fire spreads rapidly through Peoria home

PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) — Firefighters are working to contain a fast-moving fire that severely damaged a Peoria home Thursday morning.

According to Rural Metro Fire Department, the fire started around 9:30 a.m. as a barbecue fire outside the home near 88th Avenue and Williams Road, north of Deer Valley Road.

Crews say the fire then quickly spread to grass and other nearby structures.

The fire was placed on secondary alert, with additional firefighters and resources from other agencies requested to fight the flames.

Everyone in the house was able to get out safely. One person was hospitalized with burns to his hand.
