One person died after an early morning house fire in Lompoc Friday

LOMPOC, Calif. – One person died Friday after an early morning residential fire in the 1300 block of West Locust Avenue in Lompoc.

Around 16:16 a.m., fire crews arrived on the scene of a residential fire with one occupant missing, the Lompoc Fire Department said in a news release regarding the response.

The first engine on scene advanced on the flames with a garden hose and entered the Lompoc Fire Department's detailed one-story home.

According to the Lompoc Fire Department, crews were able to extinguish the fire and evacuate the only missing resident from the home.

Despite rescue efforts by first responders, the person died from their injuries at the scene, the Lompoc Fire Department said.

There were no other injuries following the response and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, the Lompoc Fire Department shared.
