One of two Gerber shooting suspects arrested – Red Bluff Daily News

RED BLUFF — A suspect has been arrested in connection with Friday's fatal shooting, according to the Tehama County Sheriff's Office.

Law enforcement said around 12:30 a.m. Friday they responded to the 300 block of Ventura Avenue in Gerber for a reported shooting.

When police arrived, they found two male gunshot victims. Rescue efforts were made; however, one victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other victim was transported to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition.

TCSO says detectives responded to the scene and immediately began an investigation.
During the investigation, they say men arrived at the Ventura Avenue residence Friday evening to visit the homeowner.

TCSO says one of the suspects shot the victim who died for unknown reasons at 12:15 a.m.

The homeowner fought with the suspect while trying to protect himself from the armed suspect. During the fight, the second suspect fired several times, hitting the victim in the leg. After several shots were exchanged between the individuals, the two suspects fled the scene.

During the investigation, detectives learned that Red Bluff police officers received a report of a shooting victim in the 100 block of Main Street.
The responding officers found a 21-year-old man with several gunshot wounds to his body.
TCSO detectives worked with RBPD detectives and said they learned the man was one of the outstanding suspects in the Gerber shooting and identified him as Osbaldo Rodriguez, 21, of Red Bluff.

Rodriguez detectives arrested him in connection with the Gerber shooting. TCSO says it has identified a second person of interest in this investigation and is working to locate him.

Sheriff's investigators say the investigation is active and more information will be released as it becomes available. They are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective Epperson of the Tehama County Major Crimes Unit (530) 529-7920.
