One of three people recently reported missing in Switzerland in the Alpine Misox valley in Graubünden following a landslide has been found dead, Swiss authorities announced on Sunday.

“Today is a sad day,” said Ignazio Cassis, a member of the Swiss Federal Council.

She spoke to reporters on Sunday after traveling to the region to express solidarity with the victims on behalf of the Swiss federal government.

A team of 200 rescuers have been searching for the missing people using excavators, search dogs, drones and army helicopters since the area was hit by Friday's landslide.

William Kloter of the Swiss police is leading the rescue operation and said the likelihood of finding the other two alive was low. Search operations were called off overnight due to heavy rain.

The landslide hit a group of three houses in the municipality of Lostallo, in the Alpine Misox valley in Graubünden.

Swiss authorities said a section of the Swiss A13 highway leading to Italy had been completely submerged and destroyed by floods.

The main transit route between the San Bernardino Pass and Roveredo in Graubünden is likely to remain closed for several months.
