One man dead, two others injured in Joliet shooting – Shaw Local

JOLIET — Joliet police say one man is dead and two others injured after a shooting Saturday evening.

According to a police statement, officers were called to a home in the 400 block of Krakar Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday after receiving a report that someone had been shot.

Upon entering the home, officers found a 23-year-old man unconscious in the living room of the residence with a gunshot wound to the head, according to the police statement. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Will County Coroner's Office. His identity has not yet been revealed.

Officers also found a 27-year-old man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his head and learned that a 20-year-old man had suffered four gunshot wounds during the shooting. the incident and had already been taken to Silver Cross. Hospital in a private vehicle, police said.

The 20-year-old is said to be in stable condition at Silver Cross.

Police reported Joliet firefighters also transported the 27-year-old man to Silver Cross and he was released shortly after receiving treatment.

According to the police statement, detectives and evidence technicians searched the home and surrounding area and found 25 shell casings at the scene.

Preliminary evidence suggests the gunfire came from outside the home and struck all three victims, who were in the front room of the home, according to police.

The shooting remains under investigation and police said the shooting appears to be isolated in nature and does not pose a known threat to the broader community at this time.

Police said they are continuing to investigate the incident and are looking for a potential motive for the shooting as well as a suspect or suspects.
