One man dead in Henderson shooting

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man is dead after a shooting at a Henderson mall, police said.

The shooting happened Wednesday around 1:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Marks Street in Henderson. When first responders arrived, they found a man who had been shot and bleeding. The police tried to help him, but he died at the scene.

Witnesses told 8 News Now the shooting happened in the parking lot of the Walmart store.

Some shoppers and staff members who were present at the time of the shooting spoke to 8 News Now.

Tina Tersek told 8 News Now she was shopping in the store with her grandson when she heard gunshots outside. Police later told him his car had been involved in the shooting. Tersek then got out and noticed her passenger's front window had been torn out.

“We just went in to get groceries and all of a sudden sirens went off and they led us to the back door, about 10 minutes later they let us back in to finish shopping and when I got out of here, I couldn't get to my car, they told me it was shot,” Tersek said.

Mireya Navarrete works at Walmart and told 8 News Now that at the time of the shooting, she did not hear the gunshots, but she saw staff members running out of the store and providing medical attention to the man.

Police said that as of 2:30 p.m., no other injuries had been reported in the shooting.

The Walmart store was closed to customers Wednesday evening. Walmart staff confirmed to 8 News Now Wednesday evening that the store will reopen at 6 a.m. Thursday.

The investigation into the deadly shooting is ongoing, police said.
