Once again, police raid FunGuyz magic mushroom store in Cambridge, lay trafficking charges

Another week, another raid on one of Waterloo Region's FunGuyz magic mushroom shops.

Waterloo Regional Police executed a search warrant Wednesday at the Cambridge store on King Street East, near Waterloo Street North.

As in other raids, officers seized a large quantity of psilocybin, commonly known as magic mushrooms, in various forms, as well as Canadian money.

Police arrested and charged a 27-year-old Waterloo man with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Police said in a statement, repeating previous statements, that “psilocybin is classified as a Schedule III controlled substance. The companies selling these products are operating illegally and the substances they offer are neither regulated nor subject to standardized quality control measures.

Regional police raided FunGuyz stores in Cambridge and Kitchener several times over the last few months, sometimes both at the same time.

Each time, one or two people are accused of trafficking.
