Woman sentenced to at least 45 years in prison for fatal shooting at Omaha sports bar

TONIGHT AT TEN. Back in Omaha, where a woman is convicted in a fatal shooting at a sports bar, Quanecia Platte has reached a plea deal in the death of Vincent Burns. KETV NEWSWATCH SEVEN'S IZZY FONFARA DUE, WAS IN COURT AND SPEAKING WITH THE BURNS FAMILY. IN JANUARY 2022, VINCENT BURNS, 20, WAS SHOT AND KILLED OUTSIDE THE JETS SPORTS BAR NEAR 30TH AND HARNEY. He was an idiot, one of the most awkward people you could ever know. Um, a huge, huge heart. And the first thing you would see before even seeing him was his smile. NEARLY 50 MEMBERS OF HER FAMILY GATHERED MONDAY AT THE DOUGLAS COUNTY COURTHOUSE FOR THE SENTENCING OF QUANECIA PLATTERS. HOW DO YOU FEEL TODAY? I CANNOT ANSWER THIS HONESTLY. THE BEST ANSWER I HAVE IS NUMB. I'm just ready to get this over with, she agreed to plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter and using a weapon to commit a crime. It was between 35 and 55. Um, but actually, I think we could look at more. I HOPE FOR MORE TODAY. A JUDGE GAVE HER 18 TO 20 YEARS IN PRISON FOR BURNING KILLINGS. AND ANOTHER 27 TO 45 YEARS FOR THE WEAPONS CHARGE. DURING SENTENCING, DEPUTIES SAY THE BURN AND PLAT FAMILIES ARE ENGAGED IN SOME SORT OF FIGHT. SOMEONE CALLED OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS IN THEIR VEHICLE NEARBY, AND THEY ARRIVED AND STARTED CAUSING MORE DISTURBANCE, AT WHICH DEPUTIES RESPONDED AND HAD TO CLEAR THE AREA.
