An 18-year-old man was shot and killed during an alleged robbery attempt at an Omaha park early Thursday morning, police said. Officers were called to Methodist Hospital around 1 a.m. for a shooting victim, authorities said. The victim, identified as Nathan Elmer, told officers he was in Candlewood Park, located near N 120th and Blondo streets, when an unknown suspect “approached him and demanded his property.” Omaha police said. Elmer said he refused and the suspect shot him, grazing him in the left arm, authorities said. Omaha police said Elmer was treated and released. The incident remains under investigation.
