Omaha man sentenced to federal prison after second child pornography conviction

An Omaha man who recently served a five-year sentence in federal prison for child pornography will return to prison for 11 years after being convicted again of the same offense.

Calvin Dugan, 36, was sentenced Tuesday to 132 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to one count of possession of child pornography. He was on federal supervised release for a 2018 conviction on the same charge at the time of the new offense.

Dugan was released from prison in July 2022, according to court documents. He was sentenced to 10 years of supervised release, which required mandatory polygraph tests and a computer monitoring program.

During a polygraph examination last August, according to Dugan's plea agreement, Dugan admitted to possessing several unapproved electronic devices. When probation officers searched his home the next day, they found a cell phone, a gaming console and several SD cards and USB drives. All devices were seized and Dugan was taken into custody.

When the devices were analyzed by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, investigators found more than 650 images constituting child pornography. Some images depicted prepubescent girls.

A federal grand jury indicted Dugan in November 2023. In exchange for his guilty plea to one count of possession of child pornography, prosecutors dismissed the supervised release violation from the 2018 case, which could have resulted in additional prison time.

Once Dugan completes his prison sentence, he will again be placed on supervised release for 15 years.
