Olivehurst men arrested in drug trafficking case, police say | News capsules

Two Olivehurst men and several others were arrested recently after a lengthy investigation into an alleged “large-scale drug trafficking organization” that affected much of the Sacramento Valley area, police said.

According to the Yuba County Sheriff's Department, multiple law enforcement agencies executed 12 federal search warrants in Sacramento, Yuba and Yolo counties on May 30. Through a joint investigation by the Yuba County Sheriff's Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force Group and the California Multi-Jurisdictional Methamphetamine Enforcement Team, law enforcement detectives reportedly identified a ” large-scale drug trafficking organization” based in Sacramento. County. This organization is suspected of distributing drugs in Yuba, Sacramento, Placer, Yolo, Sutter and El Dorado counties, officials said.

“This investigation lasted over a year and resulted in the seizure of more than 750 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, 10 pounds of heroin, five pounds of cocaine, 3,500 counterfeit oxycodone pills laced with fentanyl and 22 weapons fired,” the Yuba County Sheriff's Department said. “Detectives also discovered and dismantled an active meth conversion lab in the Central Valley, which contained approximately 1,500 pounds of crystal meth in various stages of production.”

Among the arrested suspects allegedly associated with the alleged drug trafficking organization were Olivehurst residents Harold Kemper, 65, and Micky Jeffrey, 66. Officials said both were suspected of working as “sub-distributors” within the organization. As a result of the investigation, Kemper and Jeffrey were booked into the Yuba County Jail on felony charges, the sheriff's department said.

According to online jail records, Jeffrey was not listed as an inmate at the Yuba County Jail. Kemper remained in custody with bail set at $30,000.
